Confessions, Book VIII
Don't believe in excess Success is to give Don't believe in riches But you should see where I live — U2, “God Part II” “Believe in yourself. You don’t need to change anything. Your body is perfect the way it is. And, anyway, beauty is a construct.” I tell this to my kid, mostly believing it. Praying their pronouns don’t reflect a shift from Why would anybody hate their body? to hating their body. Also praying they don’t notice my shots, supplements, skin cream, smart scale, infrared devices, gym, sauna, cold plunges, carb aversion, step counting. My embarrassment, especially as a man. Lord, help me accept old age, sickness and death, but not yet.
If this resonates, I’d love to hear from you. A comment, a share, or even just a like goes a long way. Writing into the void is its own practice, but knowing the work lands makes it easier to keep showing up.
