Lessons from Improv
Perfect is easy.
Just go slow.
Do what you know.
Wake me
when you’re
done.
This one came out haiku-like: 5-7-5, even if it doesn’t quite look it on the page.
It traces back to an older piece I wrote on improv and risk-taking — one of those posts where I had a lot to say about a simple idea: that perfection is easy, and mostly beside the point.
That piece ranged pretty widely — business, creativity, presence, relationships. A mix of voices and influences. Also, a lot of em dashes. Proof that it’s not just a ChatGPT phenomenon.
Lately, I’ve been coming back to that same idea from a different angle — less about performance and business, more about personal practice (which is also not separate).
Showing up. Trying something. Letting it be a little messy.
And moving on.
